Overview
The SM200 soil moisture sensor has research grade performance and gives reliable readings in all soil types, being designed for easy insertion and installation at both the soil surface and at depth. This market leading sensor offers outstanding performance in saline soil conditions and in extreme temperatures. For a sensor of this build quality and specification the SM200 is extremely competitively priced.

Research Grade
The SM200 measures volumetric soil moisture content with ±3% precision. Offering exceptional price performance, the SM200 uses industrial grade connectors and high grade materials throughout, to produce a soil moisture sensor of outstanding quality.

Ease of Use
The SM200 minimises soil disturbance, permitting reliable readings in undisturbed soil. The sensor has been designed with field use in mind. The SM200 is a circular sensor and can be easily installed at depth in augured holes. A low-cost insertion rod is available.
The SM200 has very flexible cabling solutions. A bare-end 5m cable is available for connection to a data logger. Extension cables of 5m, 10m, and 25m lengths are available. Multiple extension cables can be used to tailor the cable length to you application.
A total cable length of up to 55m is recommended. Longer cable lengths can be used at a slightly reduced accuracy.
Delta-T commissioned a custom cable for the SM200 to our exact specifications. The result is a high quality cable for demanding soil monitoring applications.
A braided shield combined with a polyurethane sheath ensures the cables have high wear and good resistance to rodent damage. Industrial grade M8 connectors are used, providing ease of use and IP68 environmental protection.

Performance and Reliability
Only the highest grade materials have been used in the manufacture the SM200 resulting in a soil moisture sensor of the highest quality. By means of novel design and manufacturing practice this quality has been achieve at no cost penalty to customers.

Research and Irrigation Sensor
The SM200 is ideally suited to soil science, agronomy,horticulture and agricultural research studies. It is equally applicable to irrigation applications.
The SM200 can be combined with a GP1 for a very cost effective soil monitoring solution, resulting in significant water savings, increased crop yield and improved crop quality.

Soil Monitoring Solution
The SM200 can be used with a wide range of data loggers,irrigation monitors and controllers, or hand held meter. The GP1 offers a particularly competitive irrigation monitoring and data logging solution, with up to two SM200s, two temperature sensors, and rain gauge. For applications requiring more moisture measuring points, the DL6 soil moisture logger allows up to six SM200s to be monitored and combined with a temperature sensor and a rain gauge.
The DL2e data logger allows as many as sixty SM200s to be monitored in combination with a broad range of environmental and weather monitoring sensors.
