Background
The SC Series incorporates cutting edge moisture
sensing technology to prevent over watering. A timer
or clock has traditionally governed automated
sprinkler control systems. Day in and day out, rain
or shine, these clocks faithfully water our
landscapes. Because they water according to time,
and not according to the level of moisture in the
soil, they waste a tremendous amount of water.
The SC Series has the ability to set, maintain
and monitor any desired moisture level. Each zone
can be set to one of three modes of operation: as a
reference zone with its own sensor, as a dependant
zone that tracks a reference zone, or as a timed
zone. The SC Series easily accommodates both drip
zones and spray zones. Multiple zones can be watered
simultaneously and Acclima's flow control optimizes
the use of your water source.
The Sensor

The Acclima Digital TDT™ Moisture Sensor
represents a revolutionary advance in the irrigation
industry. It is the first moisture sensor to
incorporate the accuracy of digitized Time Domain
Reflectometry in a low-cost instrument, providing
highly accurate absolute readings of soil moisture
under all conditions of temperature and soil
chemistry under which turf will grow. No other
sensor on the market matches its accuracy and
stability. Independent test data from the Center for
Irrigation Technologies verifies this extraordinary
claim and is available upon request.
The sensor acts like an in-ground, closed-loop
evapo-transpiration (ET) weather station. All
environmental variables, including wind,
temperature, precipitation, humidity, soil type, and
plant growth are integrated into the output of the
moisture sensor.
Water Savings
Installing an Acclima Precision Irrigation System
will result in water savings of between 30% and up
to 50%. Some of our customers have experienced
payback periods as short as 3.8 months! And with the
patented Acclima system, your landscaping will look
great. Many of our customers report that their
properties have never looked better.
No Hassle Operation
Tired of resetting your clocks for different
climatic conditions? With the Acclima Precision
Irrigation System, you can forget about the clock.
Once the moisture levels are set, the system
self-corrects for changes in conditions. During the
hottest part of the year, the system might water
every day. Then when the temperature cools, or you
get a big rainstorm, the system will hold off
watering until the moisture level in the ground
falls below the threshold you have set.
Features:
- Large graphic display with text prompting
simplifies programming and operation.
- Optional sensor-mode operation saves water
and automatically adjusts to weather patterns.
- Non-volatile program memory maintains
configuration information even if the power
fails and the batteries are dead.
- Easy installation of sensors using existing
valve wires.
- Conventional wiring of valves. (One wire per
valve + common)
- Sophisticated calendar/clock automatically
compensates for leap years and optionally for
daylight saving time.
- Clock can be maintained for up to 2 months
without power using 2-AA Alkaline batteries.
- Four independent timed programs (A, B, C, D)
with six start times each. Start time resolution
of 1 minute.
- Supports 0 to 24 or 36 soil moisture sensors
with sensor sharing so multiple zones can be
controlled by a single sensor.
- Each soil moisture sensor added to the
system also adds a sensor program to the system
with 6 start times each (up to 40 programs are
possible in total).
- Supports rain/wind/freeze sensor inputs to
shut off the water when weather does not permit
irrigation.
- Flow meter support monitors for broken
pipes.
- Multi-zone watering up to 4 zones at a time
maximum.
- Multi-zone watering may be configured on a
per-zone based on the water usage of that zone
versus available water. (Drips might run 4 zones
at a time, while large zones run one or two at a
time). This configuration can happen
automatically when a flow meter is attached to
the system, or can be adjusted manually at any
time.
- Watering day schedules include Custom, Every
Day, Odd Day, Even Day, and Every Nth Day
watering (where N may range from 3 to 31).
- Zone stacking ensures that all zones will
eventually be watered even though program start
times may overlap.
- Soil moisture sensor thresholds can be set
from 0% to 99% water content per unit volume
(Volumetric Water Content [VWC]). Sensor program
start is inhibited for sensors where the
moisture content is above the threshold.
- Cycle + Soak feature prevents runoff by
putting down the water in short bursts. Cycle +
Soak is configurable independently for each
zone. While one zone is soaking, others will
water, maximizing water output for the
irrigation time allowed.
- Programmable valve delay allows slow-closing
valves time to turn off completely.
- Valve current test mode rapidly checks the
valve current for each of the 36 zones.
- Walk-around test mode operates each zone for
a programmable amount of time for inspecting
sprinkler heads after mowing the lawn.
- Pause mode allows suspending controller
operation for a period of time, after which
irrigation will resume automatically from where
it left off.
- Up to 6 programmable pause events allow
scheduling of lawn parties in advance. Pause
events may be scheduled to any future date and
time, and will automatically pause the
controller for a programmable time period.
- Power recovery mode can be set to recover
lost watering or reset watering after a power
failure. Recover watering will resume watering
that should have occurred while the power was
out, while reset watering prevents watering
during a time that may be against community
ordinances.
- Water Budget is programmable between 5-500%
per month. Water budget does not apply to sensor
programs, as sensors adjust for seasonal changes
automatically.
- Rain delay is programmable from 0-14 days
for timed programs (A, B, C, D). Rain delay does
not apply to sensor programs, as sensors will
hold off watering automatically while the soil
moisture is above the programmed threshold.
- 24 or 36 Zones, run-time can be set from 0
to 18 hours in 1-minute increments
- Zones may be quickly disabled without
loosing other configuration information.
- Manual zone start and manual program start
- Master Valve terminal always operates for
each zone
- Separate Pump start terminal is programmable
by zone.
- Status reporting lists history of errors
that may have occurred on the system
- Operational status report shows current
zones watering, and all zones waiting to water.
- Durable, plastic box is easy to mount and is
weather resistant for outdoor installation.
- Adaptable to the TRC Commander radio though
a separate DCI adapter.
