Complete Logging Solution
The GP1 offers a solution in a box, including: PC software,
to program the logger and view and analyse data; a serial
RS232 cable, to connect to a PC; and a full-colour printed
guide that outlines how to connect sensors, how to use the
software, and how to get up and running quickly.
An IP67,
environmentally sealed weatherproof enclosure is included.
The GP1 has an internal battery and extremely low power
consumption. The 9V alkaline battery (provided) will
typically last over one year, with 3 years typical for a
lithium battery. This means low maintenance, without the
need or expense of a solar panel or rechargeable batteries.
Sensor Support
The GP1 can power sensors with configurable warm-up time
prior to taking readings. Both switched power and a switched
+5V reference is available for sensor powering.
The GP1
has two differential 0 to 2.5V inputs which can be used to
record readings from most analog environmental sensors. The
GP1 supports a wide range of environmental sensors from
Delta-T, including ML2x and SM200 soil moisture sensors.
The
two temperature channels support 10K thermistors for
temperature measurements and may be used for general
resistance measurement.
The
event counter channels support rain gauges and flow meters
as well as contact closure and voltage pulses.
Example Application
The GP1 is ideally suited to soil science, agronomy,
horticulture and agricultural research studies. In
particular the GP1 can be combined with two soil moisture
sensors, two temperature sensors, a rain gauge, and a flow
meter, for use in crop yield, crop quality, and irrigation
efficiency studies.
The GP1
incorporates a number of unique features: the dual-rate
logging function can be triggered by a rain or flow event
from a rain gauge or flow meter, allowing rain events and
soil dynamics to be monitored in detail. The relay channel
allows sophisticated experimental control based on soil
moisture, temperature and other analog sensor readings.
The GP1
relay channel can be used for irrigation control with a
configurable duty cycle. This allows the irrigation rate to
be adjusted to match the absorption dynamics of the soil,
thus reducing water run-off and flush-through, maximising
irrigation efficiency.
Powerful Research Tool
The GP1 has been designed to be more than a data logger; it
has been designed to be a valued research tool.
To make
the process of archiving and postprocessing data as easy as
possible, an Excel import tool is provided for seamless
importing and graphing of data in MS Excel, saving countless
hours.
The
GP1 uses non-volatile flash memory, ensuring data is not
lost in the event of a flat battery. With the GP1’s huge
storage space of over 600,000 readings (typical) it has the
memory capacity required to store several months of data for
most applications.
An
optional PDA Pocket PC solution is available, offering the
full functionality of the PC software in the field, namely:
viewing, analysing and downloading data, and reprogramming
the GP1.
Versatile Relay Channel
The GP1 has a highly versatile relay channel. The relay can
be controlled by multiple sensor conditions, allowing
researchers to not only monitor experimental conditions, but
also to set alarm conditions when limits are exceeded, and
if so desired, automatically control and adjust experimental
conditions. Both simple and highly complex control is
possible.
System Requirements
